Why are we drawn to observe situations of life and death? Is it because we live in such security? Our decisions are each small reflections of these concepts, but their physical actuality is sealed away through mutual funds, automatic bank drafts, directions from the interstate, etc.

That is why music is so important. Music can be a grandiose gateway into a world outside of self and security. The video above and the M83 song in it are an example of the epic life or death struggle in everyday life. It was made by a company called Lakai which sells shoes to skateboarders, but whatever its commercial intensions this piece of film goes far beyond mere advertisement.
