so - i was there on friday… and they were AWESOME! i was thoroughtly impressed and love their EP as well.

i think that most of the sound problems should lie on Lenny’s and not Sonen. but - that’s just my humble opinion. this was an incredible show - and i’m hoping that the next time they play - the engineer will get his shit RIGHT!

I don’t like the slow or mid-tempo songs because Gibbs isn’t good at writing slow or mid-tempo songs. I’ve heard good and bad versions of the type of song Gibbs attempts: like the worst of those songs, Gibbs’ slow tracks are completely lacking in conviction or originality.

On the CD, the overall effect is as if Gibbs was trying to fill some sort of love ballad quota.

I will admit that I tend to prefer faster songs!

I don’t think we listened to the same album. This album is great, and the only song that doesn’t fit is Streetfighter, although I like it a lot.

Looking through your review, you only like the fast songs, and hate all of the slow and mid-tempo songs. Obviously you weren’t in the mood for it when you listened to it, and I think it affected your judgment.

So it’s really funny that you both like the Hercules & Love Affair record becauase I was streaming it a couple weeks ago while I was working, and really kinda hating it and Crystal walked by and was like, “What’s that? It’s horrible.” I guess the two of us don’t share your love for disco….or whatever….

P.S. I was Devo for Halloween last year. They shoulda sued me.

P.S.S. When are you having Hope For Agoldensummer in the studio? Did that happen already?

Pleasure meeting all of you guys, have fun digesting the busch tall boys and corndogs.
I think i’ve rid my self of most of it, but i don’t really know for sure, seeing as though my diet is consistantly rounded in some type of grease and alcohol related fare. Ya know the road will change a man, or just give him irregular bowl movements.

I had never heard of this band and they unexpectedly surprised me. I was just minding my own business and then they came along and rocked my face off. The lead singer’s voice reminded me of Our Lady Peace, but in a less douchey, not-ashamed-to-reference-the-90s kind of way.

And your use of the adjective ‘hardcore’ was a little confusing at first because it looked like you were talking about the genre, which, luckily, these guys are not.
