Dark Meat: Music + Hypnotism + Hobo Fiddle

Before I get into the real content of this post, I’d like to make a quick observation:
Dark Meat’s Ben Clack is reading my mind and stealing my thoughts.
My evidence: in an interview with Portland State’s Daily Vanguard, Ben Clack is quoted as saying, “Always say yes, don’t ever say no, and have fun.”
If you know me, you’ve probably heard me use those exact same words as part of my often repeated catchphrase/business model: “Always say yes.”
The motto has proven so popular that I’ve added it to the back of all my business cards:
Obviously, this is no coincidence. Ben Clack is using some sort of magic to steal my ideas. Probably the same magic he uses to keep an 18+ member band touring regularly.
In fact, Dark Meat’s on the tail end of a 50+ show tour right now. Recently surfaced San Fransisco footage shows the collective wandering around during daylight, glimpses of their tour bus (with 12 bunks!), and a marching band style performance through city streets:
Dark Meat will be returning to Athens this Friday to play Athfest’s main outdoor stage at 9:10. From there, they’ll be flying to LA for a quick show, then playing Athens’ 40 Watt July 11 (with Diplo), and Whirlyball July 12 (with Diplo and Noot d’Noot).
Dark Meat signed with Vice Records in March, so there’s a good chance they’ll be following The Black Lips lead and spending the next few months on international tours. Try and make it out to see them this summer, while they’re still a relatively local band.
