Dirty Steve Smith

Dirty Vegas’ frontman, Steve Smith, has withdrawn himself from his country, his band, and his sound. This Town, out this year on G.A.S. Records is the fruit of his departure. The album is a laid-back montage of vestigial experiences with characters found the world over. Smith’s album is a sharp departure from where Dirty Vegas’ sound was heading. He ditches the house/electronic tag, replacing it with easy acoustic ballads like “Universe.”

Smith’s host of musical experience bleeds into the music as he creates polished tracks layered by his own drums, percussion, Rhodes, and guitar. With hints of Bruce Springsteen circa “Streets of Philadelphia,” Smith delivers an easy country/light rock sound that manages to warrant a few head nods and foot taps. Though the adult alternative scene is not my cup of tea, if I were into this genre, “This Town” would be in heavy rotation–right next to Sheryl Crow and Hootie (excuse me while I get soap and water for my dirty mouth).

Steve Smith - Restless

Steve Smith - Hit Me Up

“Hit Me Up” would be my anthem as I sprayed my bangs for my big night at the club. Thankfully, I’m not that kind of gal, but if I was, mark my words Steve Smith, you would have my vote.

Steve Smith - Comedown Queen
