Nick Butcher - Bee Removal

The conventional methods of entertainment have certain rules that are not to be broken. One must be witty. One must be forthright. One must push your ideas on an ignorant public so they think you are cool. Nick Butcher breaks every single one of those rules. If you listen closely to Nick’s stripped album, you will be taken on a journey. His use of simple rhythms, repetitious sounds, pulsing snaps, crackles and pops will put you into a productive trance. You will recall your most simple, childish memories: catching lightning bugs, getting your first set of stitches, and inspecting the curves of your first lover’s face. The sounds used on the album are common and familiar, but the end product is something completely original. Surprisingly this is not a melancholy album. In fact, you will probably cock your head to the side and smile.
When I first listened to Bee Removal, I thought Nick Butcher was just another paint thrower who bought some old recording equipment from a pawn shop and made an album of himself fumbling around with objects lying around the house, but after listening to Bee Removal track by track and feeling the emotions topple one on top of each other, I heard a piece of art that I wish more people would get to experience. Come hear the organic analog sculpture Nick has twisted, carved and splattered together. He made it just for you.
