Chromeo

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

I really couldn’t stop from posting this today. I’ve been really into Chromeo’s new album since day one, and It’s been really cool to watch everyone around me slowly come around. First there was a lot of eye rolling as everyone seems to look at one another with the sarcastic “oh yeah THATS really cool pshhhhhh” thing. After a few listens though people seem to understand that the band really does have a passion for this kind of music and is contributing something very substantial. These guys are welcome in my stereo anytime, dance party or not. The 80s are dead. Long live the 80s.

Seems that Canadians just have something going on lately!

Final Fantasy

Friday, December 28th, 2007

A couple years ago I saw Arcade Fire in New Orleans. It was at the House of Blues. I was with my longtime girlfriend and we both agreed that we just didn’t have the energy to stand with all the people on the lower level so we went upstairs. The upper level to the venue has an area for general admission and then a lower tier with very comfortable seating for people who pay huge sums of money. We stood just outside of the “high rollers” area for a good while until the girl who controlled the rope said to us “go on and get to your seats before the show starts” with a wink. We bolted to the front center to the middle of the lower balcony just as Final Fantasy was going onstage. It was the greatest concert I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Final Fantasy was amazing as the live opening act and touring member. See for yourself.

YOU GOT THE FLAVA

Ok so clicking the above image will instantly transport you to an alternate dimension where melody and beat are one. Some may call it belowdy. Some perhaps will seattle for meat. Anyways Those guys at “Hot Pink Delorean” got FLAVA.

A Place to Bury Strangers

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

This band is deamed “the loudest band in New York.” I like any band that can improve on the ideas the Jesus and Mary Chain left us. (Just Like Honey which plays on their myspace was the last song on Lost In Translation. Love Love Love) Apparently the day job for the guitarist in this band is manufacturing custom guitar petals. You can tell.

A Place to Bury Strangers shot the video for I Know I’ll See You on a webcam in the parking lot of a Denny’s in Ohio. Ever seen a $70 video beat out studio material that cost hundreds of thousands? You have now.

God I love noisy bands.

Oh man what a christmas! I got underwear, a printer, some soap, and a Martini shaker. So I guess my family is trying to tell me that I should stop wearing my Atlanta Olympic 1996 boxers, shower more, stop drinking beer out of a can, and take more photos.

I think I will take the photos!

At any rate here is another Christmas gift for you, a very very powerful video to an equally powerful song.

Seabear

Monday, December 24th, 2007

I read so much about new music in other blogs that it always stuns me that people I know still know countless bands that I havent had the pleasure of hearing yet. So since I’m avoiding family in the basment of my sisters house this christmas eve I thought I would share a video that my good friend Andrea shared with me.

Seabear is nice.

Iceland is so much fun that one in three people’s feet turn orange!

So Here is a video for you from some hometown boys. When I worked at R. Thomas I would skateboard past the cemetary they filmed this in every day, in fact I’ve shot a few cool photos from there myself. Anyway enough about me. Great song, Great Video. Cool to see stuff filmed in my neighborhood.
